  • What Herbs Can Do For Your Weight Loss Post 1

Herbal supplements have been touted as a great way to ‘burn fat,’ ‘burn calories,’ and ‘reduce cellulite.’ I have tried most herbal weight loss supplements on the market. Here is my journal of sort, about each supplement and what it did for me.

I do not endorse or deny the benefits of any of these products. This is how they affected me when I took them. To understand a little about me, I am about 7 or 8 pounds overweight, I am 35 years old, I have an extremely sedentary job, and am not fond of exercise. The reason I tried these pills was to lose weight without too much personal effort from little old me!! The results will vary from person to person, so you may have had a very positive response with these supplements. This is only a guide, it can help you if you are seeking an herb to try and are too confused by all of the many, many combinations on the market.

The following are supplements that I have tried in the last two years. Again, keep in mind, I did not kill myself with diet and exercise. I was careful about what I ate, but not religious. I did not participate in a regular exercise program, either. So, this is what you get when you don’t do the diet and exercises. In some cases, I did modify my diet and did moderate exercise, where noted.

    Here’s the list!!

Metabolite, Metabolift – these are a combination of Mau haung and ephedra, amongst other ingredients. FINDINGS: I took Metabolift for two weeks. I found that I was “high” on one capsule, making me almost unbearable to my co-workers because I was so “happy.” These did not produce any significant results, I’m afraid. Even with the combination of a low-fat lunch and drinking large quantities of water, my weight loss was roughly one pound over the span of two weeks.

Cellucene: This is a diuretic, costing roughly $30.00 per 30-day supply. No changes were noted. No effect on physical or mental status. Sorry, I don’t think I took this long enough. The capsules are huge!!! Too hard for this half- hearted dieter to attempt.

Apple Cider Vinegar Tablets: These tablets weren’t as bad tasting as the Metabolift, but the concept is a little too old fashioned for me. I found absolutely NO CHANGE in my weight loss here. I think this is for a younger person. I felt that these were like taking sugar tablets all day.

No affect on fluid retention, weight loss or mental status. I would give these a negative rating. Again, they may work better for someone who has a fairly speedy metabolism, but not me. It was simply a practice in swallowing pills three times per day.

Berry Trim: I tried this plan in 1999. I was getting ready to go on a vacation and wanted to lose 10 lbs. I combined exercise, diet modification and taking these tablets before lunch and dinner. I did lose 6 pounds. I did gain back 6 pounds. I looked great for the vacation, but the weight loss was not mine to keep, I’m afraid. These are available by mail order and retail for about $30.00. This is not necessarily a bad plan, but I didn’t retain the weight loss, and oh boy was it difficult to get the weight off! The funny thing is, I went on vacation in California, and the combination of walking absolutely everywhere, and eating fresh produce for 6 days, netted another 3 pounds!! I did it naturally. I no longer own the last 3 pounds!! Can you believe that?
